
Men's Tennis Falls to No. 46 New Mexico, 4-1

ALBUGUERQUE, N.M. - The Brown men's tennis team was defeated by No. 46 New Mexico, 4-1, on the final day of the Mountain Pacific Invitational at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium, and finished fourth in the tournament Sunday.
The Bears won the doubles point with victories in first and second doubles. Freshman Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong) and senior Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio) started things in the second spot with a 6-3 win. Senior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) and sophomore Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) next posted a 6-4 triumph in first singles for the opening point of the match.
New Mexico came back in singles play and won the first four matches to seal the victory. The Lobos started in second singles and proceed in sixth, first and fifth. Haworth squared off with No. 103 Ricky Hernandez-Tong in first singles and fought in both sets but fell, 7-5, 6-3.
The Bears have a week off before they return to action at the Pizzitola Sports Center and host UConn and St. John's on Sunday, March 18. The match against the Huskies will begin at 9:00 a.m. while the Red Storm contest will begin at 3:00 p.m.
