LAST TIME OUT
Four Bears recorded hat tricks as Brown defeated Louisville, 17-10, on Wednesday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field. Brown outscored the visitor 10-4 in the second half after leading the Cardinals by one at the break. Freshman Risa Mosenthal led all scorers with seven points on five goals and two assists while junior Hafsa Moinuddin (4G, 2A), junior Caroline Zaffino (Darien, Conn.), senior Carolyn Paletta (Greenwich, Conn.) and freshman Maggie Fowler (1G, 2A) generated multi-point efforts.
BEAR LEADERS
Freshman Risa Mosenthal leads the Bears in points with 46, with a squad-best 40 goals and six assists. Junior Hafsa Moinuddin is the team's second leading scorer with 32 points on 18 goals and 14 assists. For draw controls, junior Zaffino has a team-high 50. Senior Marissa Hudgins paces the defense with 16 caused turnovers while sophomore Maggie Bigelow has started all 10 games between the pipes and has a 11.84 goals-against average and a 40.5 save percentage.
MOSENTHAL LEADS THE WAY
Freshman Risa Mosenthal has had quite the opening to her collegiate career and has recorded at least a hat trick in all 10 of her first career games on her way to 40 goals. The rookie's 4.00 goals per game average is third in the Ivy League and eighth in the nation. Mosenthal's 65.6 shot percentage ranks seventh best in the country. In the Brown record book, her 40 goals are already tied for sixth best in a single season with five regular season games still remaining on the Bears' schedule. The program record is within reach for Mosenthal, with Brown Hall of Famer Suzanne Bailey '91 holding the record with 60 goals in 1991.
LAST SEASON VS. SACRED HEART
Brown opened the 2017 season against Sacred Heart and started the year with a triumphant 19-0 victory at Stevenson-Pincince Field on February 18. The Bears registered 12 first-half goals and added seven in the second. Junior Hafsa Moinuddin led Brown in points with six, on five goals and one assists. The shutout was Brown's second all-time, having also accomplished the feat in 1982.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart looks to turn things around after an 0-8 start to the season. The Pioneers have been off since last Thursday (March 22), a 11-6 loss to Vermont. Hanna Wise leads SHU in goals (15) and points (16) while Averi Farhay has the team's assist lead with five on the year paired with six goals to rank second in scoring with 11 points.
