
Women's Lacrosse Welcomes Louisville for Midweek Matchup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will host Louisville at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Wednesday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. in a non-conference contest. The game will be broadcast on NESN and the Ivy League Network.

LAST TIME OUT
After Brown built a 7-5 lead in the opening half, No. 8/7 Penn outscored the the Bears 11-3 in the decisive second frame to take a 16-10 win at Penn Park on Saturday. Freshman Risa Mosenthal concluded the day with three goals and two assists while DeGennaro generated two goals and three assists.
BEAR LEADERS
Freshman Risa Mosenthal leads the Bears in point with 35, with a squad-best 39 goals and four assists. Sophomore Emma DeGennaro is Brown's second leading scorer with 30 points (20G, 10A) while junior Caroline Zaffino ranks third with 27 points (21G, 6A). Zaffino has the draw control lead with 44 on the year. Senior Marissa Hudgins paces the defense with 16 caused turnovers while sophomore Maggie Bigelow has started all nine games between the pipes and has a 12.07 goals-against average and a 39.4 save percentage.
MOSENTHAL LEADS THE WAY
Freshman Risa Mosenthal has had quite the opening to her collegiate career and has recorded at least a hat trick in all nine of her first career games on her way to 35 goals. The rookie's 3.89 goals per game average is third in the Ivy League and is also tied for 14th in the nation. Mosenthal's 70.0 shot percentage ranks second best in the country. In the Brown record book, her 35 goals are already tied for 11th best in a single season with six regular season games still remaining on the Bears' schedule.
LAST SEASON VS. LOUISVILLE
Brown was defeated by No. 20 Louisville, 13-9, on Feb. 25 at Lake Mary High School in Florida. Louisville held a slight lead at halftime, 5-4, and pulled away in the second, outscoring the Bears 8-5 in the stanza. Senior Carolyn Paletta led Brown in scoring with a hat trick and an assist while junior Hafsa Moinuddin added two tallies.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Louisville is 6-5 on the season and 0-3 in the ACC. The Cardinals have dropped their last two, at Robert Morris (13-12, March 24) and versus No. 3/2 Boston College (19-10, March 17). Caroline Blalock and Tessa Chad share the team's goal lead with 33 on the year while Blalock leads the squad in points (44) with the addition of 11 assists. Blalock also leads the defense with 20 caused turnovers on the year. Lexie Ball has started all 11 games in net and has a 12.49 goals-against average and a 41.8 save percentage.
