Providence, R.I. - Brown freshman guard Desmond Cambridge (Nashville, TN) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week for the second time and Ivy Rookie of the Week for the sixth time after posting dominant performances in Brown's 95-90 overtime loss to Penn and subsequent 102-100 overtime win at Princeton, snapping the Tigers 19 game home winning streak and giving Brown its first win over Princeton in 10 games.
Cambridge turned in a virtuoso performance against Princeton, tying the game in regulation on two free throws with 5.4 seconds remaining, blocking the Tigers' layup attempt to tie the game at the end of regulation, and finishing by nailing the game-winning contested trey with 4.4 seconds left in overtime.
He finished with 32 points against Princeton, connecting on 10-of-16 field goals, including 7-of-9 treys and 5-of-6 free throws. He also grabbed nine rebounds against the Tigers, equaling his season high. The 102 points scored are the most ever scored by the Bears against Princeton and rank 11th in Brown history.
Cambridge also put on a dazzling offensive display against Penn at the Palestra, connecting on 12-of-19 field goals for the Bears, including 4-of-7 treys, in scoring 29 points.
