
Women's Tennis Falls to No. 43 Syracuse, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team was defeated by No. 43 Syracuse, 6-1, on Saturday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
The Orange started off by winning the doubles point, with a victory by No. 19 Gabriela Knutson and Miranda Ramirez in the first spot and a win in second doubles.
Senior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) won the first set against the 18th-ranked Knutson in first singles, 6-2, but Knutson would edge Benotto in the second set, 7-6 (4), and go on to win the third (6-0) to take the match.
Sophomore Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) also pushed her match to three sets in the fourth spot, but fell 4-6, 6-1, 7-5. Freshman Courtney Kowalsky (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) picked up the Bears' win in singles, a 6-3, 6-2 showing in fifth singles.
The Bears are back in action tomorrow (Feb. 25) hosting Boston College in a 12:30 p.m. match on the Ivy League Network.
