
Women's Tennis Overpowers Boston University, 6-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team defeated Boston University, 6-1, on Saturday at the Pizzitola Sports Center. After falling in the doubles round, the Bears regrouped and won all six singles matches.
The Terriers claimed the doubles point with wins in first and second doubles. Freshman Courtney Kowalsky (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) and senior Maddie Stearns (Short Hills, N.J.) came up with a 6-2 win in third doubles for the Bears.
Brown dominated singles play, winning all six matches en route to its 6-1 victory. Stearns cruised in first singles, 6-1, 6-1 while Kowalsky also had a dominant performance in sixth singles (6-1, 6-2). Senior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) took second singles by a score of 6-4, 6-4 and sophomore Devon Jack (San Marino, Calif.) followed in the third spot (6-3, 6-3). Sophomore Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) (6-1, 6-3, fourth) and junior Taylor Cosme (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) (7-5, 6-2, fifth) closed things out for the Bears.
Brown next hosts Syracuse and Boston College on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25, respectively. Both matches are slated to start at 11:00 a.m.
