
Men's Tennis Defeats Penn, 4-2, on Day Two of the ECAC Championship

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Brown men's tennis team defeated sixth-seeded Penn, 4-2, on day two of the ECAC Championship on Saturday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
The Bears, the seventh seed, won the doubles point with a 6-3 win from senior Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio) and freshman Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong) in first doubles and a 6-4 victory by senior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) and sophomore Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) in the second spot.
Penn tied up the match by winning fifth singles but Brown regained the lead (2-1) when senior Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) came away with a 6-3, 6-1 win in third singles. The Quakers knotted the match again by winning first singles but the Bears closed out the match strong with wins in fourth and sixth singles. Lam took his fourth singles match 7-6, 6-3 and junior Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) sealed the match with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 showing (sixth).
The Bears next face Yale tomorrow (Feb. 18) at 10:00 a.m. in the final day of the ECAC Championship at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
