
Cross, Moyer Earn Brown Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Women's swimming & diving junior Marley Cross and men's squash sophomore Maximo Moyer have earned Brown University Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 26 to Dec. 2, Brown announced on Monday.

Junior Marley Cross helped lead the women's swimming & diving team to a first-place finish at the Bruno Invite this past weekend. The Seattle, Wash., native and Economics concentrator had impressive performances in the final leg of two relays for the Bears. She swam a 22.23 split while anchoring the 200-freestyle relay team that won the event on Friday night, tying the program record with an overall time of 1:31.31. Cross again had a stellar final leg in the 400-freestyle relay to close out the invite, swimming her part in 48.6. Individually, Cross finished second overall in the 100 freestyle, fourth in the 50 freestyle and eighth in the 200 freestyle. Cross also competed in the 200-medley relay and the 400-medley relay, helping the Bears finish second and third, respectively.

Maximo Moyer, Men's Squash, Sophomore, Berwyn, Pa.
Sophomore Maximo Moyer won in the number one slot to help lead No. 15 Brown men's squash to an 8-1 victory over No. 18 Bates College on Saturday at the Kate Brodsky Squash Pavilion. Competing in the Bears' season opener, the native of Berwyn, Pa., earned a 3-2 (11-4, 11-4, 8-11, 6-11, 11-9 win) over the Bobcats' Graham Bonnell. Moyer opened the match with a 2-0 lead before Bonnell tied the contest at 2-2. Moyer then pulled out the fifth and decisive frame via an 11-9 score line.
