Larentowicz ’05, Eales ’95 and Belair ’13 Win Title with Atlanta United

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Brown men's soccer standouts Jeff Larentowicz '05, Darren Eales '95 and Bobby Belair '13 of Atlanta United FC helped the club capture its first MLS Cup over the weekend with a 2-0 win over Portland at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Eales has served as the President of Atlanta United since its inception in 2014. Larentowicz, a 14-year MLS veteran, played 90 minutes in the title match, while Belair currently serves as a Player Personal Specialist with the organization.
Larentowicz started 33 of 34 games played for Atlanta this regular season and added one goal and a pair of assists with 2771 minutes. Larentowicz is one of the longest tenured players in the league and is ranked in the top-10 in both career starts and appearances in league history among field players. He has played for five different MLS teams, winning the MLS Cup with Colorado in 2010, and joined Atlanta before the 2017 season.
Larentowicz put together an accomplished career at Brown, where he made 66 appearances during his four years, scoring seven goals and recording six assists. He led the Bears to two Ivy League Championships while earning honors as a Second-Team NSCAA All-American and a four-time All-Ivy League selection.
A member of the Brown Athletic Hall of Fame, Eales was one of the most dominant strikers to have played for men's soccer. In his three-year career he recorded 83 points (31g, 21a), good for the school record for consecutive games with a point (12). Eales was a three-time First Team All-Ivy selection and was First Team Academic All-American and Academic All-American of the Year in 1995. Eales was named Ivy League Player of the Year in 1994 as he led the conference in scoring with 16 goals and seven assists.
Belair wrapped up his Brown career in 2012, when he ranked third in the team in points as a senior, and then went on to play two seasons at Clemson as a graduate student. He played in 36 games at Clemson and was named to the 2014 ACC All-Tournament Team.
