
Men’s Tennis Concludes Fall Season with Brown Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team concluded its fall season by hosting the Brown Team Tournament, Friday, Nov. 9 through Sunday, Nov. 11. Boston College, Bryant and Marist joined the Bears in the tournament.
"I am excited that we're seeing significant progress with a lot of guys in a lot of different areas," said head coach Tim Gray. "We still have to continue to put the work in, but I like what I'm seeing on a competitive level."
Day One vs. Boston College
The Bears opened the tournament by winning all four of their doubles matches. Sophomore Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong) and junior Jacob Walker (Bethesda, Md.) (first) and Ben Collier (Darien, Conn.) and freshman Robert Siniakowicz (West Windsor, N.J.) (third) both recorded 6-4 victories. Senior Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) and freshman Roger Chou (Austin, Texas) (second) registered a 6-3 win while sophomore Teddy van Eck (Rye, N.Y.) and junior Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) (fourth) battled for a 7-6 (2) triumph.
Litsky posted the top singles win for Brown, with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-3 showing in the second spot. Siniakowicz (6-2, 6-3) and Collier (6-3, 7-6 (5)) followed with strong victories in fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Day Two vs. Marist
Brown dominated on day two, winning all of its matches in both doubles and singles. Lam and Walker started things in first doubles with a 6-2 win while Tan/Chou (6-4, second) and Siniakowicz/van Eck (6-1, third) followed. Litsky and freshman Alan Arocho (Norridge, Ill.) closed out the round with a 7-5 victory over a Brown/Marist team which included Collier.
Lam took his first singles match 7-5, 6-3 while Litsky won his second-straight singles match with a 6-4, 6-0 victory (second). Walker came back to take his third singles match, 4-6, 6-2, 10-6, while Tan also won in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 12-10, in the fourth spot. Siniakowicz (6-1, 6-1) and Chou (6-1, 6-0) closed out the round with convincing victories in fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Day Three vs. Marist
The Bears won two doubles matches in their first match on the final day. Walker and Collier posted a 6-4 win in the first spot while Litsky and Chou recorded a 6-2 victory in fourth doubles.
Brown split singles with the Red Foxes, winning three matches. Walker posted the first victory in the first spot, a hard fought 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5) win. Collier followed in second singles, 6-2, 7-6 (3), while senior Austin Hearst (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) took a 6-0, 6-3 victory in the fifth position.
Day Three vs. Bryant
Brown had another dominating performance to close out the tournament, winning all but one doubles and singles match versus the Bulldogs. Walker and van Eck battled to a 7-6 (5) win in second doubles while Collier and Siniakowicz (6-4, third) and Tan and Chou (6-1, fourth) followed.
Lam registered a 6-3, 6-3 win in second singles to open the round. Tan edged his opponent 7-5, 7-5 in third doubles and was followed by Collier (6-3, 7-5, fourth), Siniakowicz (6-4, 6-1, fifth) and Chou (6-1, 6-0, sixth).
The Bears open the spring season by hosting St. John's and Fairfield on Saturday, Jan. 19. The match against the Red Storm will begin at 10:00 a.m. while the match versus the Stags will start at 3:00 p.m.
