Men's Hockey Skates to 2-2 Tie at No. 3 Clarkson

POTSDAM, N.Y. – Rookie Tony Stillwell (Green Bay, Wis.) scored the game-tying goal early in the third period as the Brown men's hockey team earned a tie at No. 3 Clarkson, 2-2, in Saturday night's ECAC contest at Cheel Arena.
Brown moves to 6-12-4 overall and 5-10-1 in the ECAC. Clarkson now stands at 19-4-3, 11-1-2.
In addition to Stillwell, senior Sam Lafferty (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) also scored for the Bears. Rookie Luke Kania (Chicago, Ill.) made a career-high 35 saves. Jake Kielly turned away 23 shots for the Golden Knights.
Brown went a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
Josh Dickinson opened the scoring for the Golden Knights at 9:20 in the first period, as he scored on a rebound in front for the early lead.
Lafferty notched the equalizer at 14:37 during the first power play of the game. After a shot from the point, Tommy Marchin (Algonac, Mich.) corralled the rebound and found Lafferty at the left circle, who buried a shot for his fifth tally of the season.
Jack Jacome pushed the Golden Knights back in front just 1:44 into the second period. Nic Pierog gained control in the neutral zone and took advantage of a 2-on-1 rush to set up Jacome for the go-ahead goal.
Brown answered back once again as Stillwell tied the game at 5:10 in the third. Zach Giuttari (Warwick, R.I.) took control in the offensive end and quickly slid a pass through the slot to Stillwell, who fired a shot past Kielly for his first career goal.
Kania made 12 stops in the third period to keep the Golden Knights off the board and send the game into overtime, while the Bears also killed a penalty to end the third frame. The two teams combined for three shots in extra time to seal the tie.
Brown will host UConn on Saturday, February 3 (7 PM) in the team's final non-conference game of the season.
