Men's Tennis Records 5-2 Win Over Bryant to Open Spring Season

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team defeated Bryant, 5-2, to open the spring season at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Saturday. After surrendering the doubles point, the Bears took five of the six singles matches for the victory.
The Bulldogs won the opening doubles match (third) and then senior Aaron Sandberg (Hudson, Ohio) and freshman Ching Lam (Sai Kung, Hong Kong) tied it up with a 6-2 win in the second spot, but Bryant would claim the point with a tight 7-6 (3) win in first doubles.
Brown won the next three singles matches, with senior Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) leading the way in fourth singles with a 6-1, 6-2 showing. Lam followed in third (7-5, 6-1) while senior Jack Haworth (Corby, England) battled to take his second singles match, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
Bryant picked up a win in first singles to bring the match score to 3-2, but sophomore Peter Litsky (St. Petersburg, Fla.) (6-0, 6-2) and junior Charles Tan (Austin, Texas) (5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (5) would close out the day with wins in fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The Bears will host Quinnipiac tomorrow, Jan. 21, in a 3:00 p.m. match.
