Providence, R.I. - Brown senior defensive end Richard Jarvis (Watertown, MA) was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week and freshman wide receiver Scott Boylan (Bakersfield, CA) earned both Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week and Co-Rookie of the Week honors following Brown's 28-23 win over Bryant on Saturday.
Jarvis, who led the Ivy League in tackles for a loss in 2016, posted a career high four quarterback sacks for a loss of 28 yards against Bryant. A First Team All-Ivy, All-New England and ECAC All-Star a year ago, Jarvis also had eight overall tackles, forced a fumble and registered two quarterback hurries.
With Brown trailing early in the first quarter, Boylan wasted no time in establishing himself as a dominant return specialist, returning the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown the first time he touched the ball in a college game. The 95-yard return ranks eighth in Brown football history. He finished with 119 kickoff return yards and a returned a punt.
The Bears open their Ivy League season on Saturday, September 23 at Harvard. Kick-off is 12 noon at Harvard Stadium.
