DEDHAM, Mass. - Junior Rachel Lanouette (Windham, N.H.) scored her third goal of the weekend but the Brown field hockey team was defeated by Northeastern, 4-1, at Dedham Field on Sunday afternoon. After recording her first career scores in a 4-1 win over Siena on Friday, the captain notched the Bears' lone goal of the day.

Northeastern (4-3) took a 1-0 edge 4:24 into the contest with June Curry-Lindahl registering the goal. The Huskies had three consecutive penalty corners at the nine-minute mark with junior Katie Hammaker (Ephrata, Pa.) making two impressive saves to ward off the corners. With the opening stanza winding down, Northeastern went up by two with a tally from Kellie Stigas at 28:19 while on a corner.

The Huskies had an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners for the half, with Hammaker making three of her eight stops in the period on corners.

Hammaker again came up big with back-to-back saves following another NU penalty corner at 44:38 of the second. Soon after, Jamie Bartucca scored and gave the Huskies a 3-0 lead with a diving shot.

Lanouette put the Bears (1-5) on the board at 49:04 while on a corner to bring Brown within two. Sophomores Corinne Condie (St. Louis, Mo.) and Gina Openshaw (Annapolis, Md.) recorded the assists on the score.

Northeastern regained its three goal advantage at 53:18 with Bartucca scoring her second of the game. The Huskies would maintain their lead until the final whistle.

Hammaker concluded the day with 14 saves, a career best.

The Bears will next open Ivy League play on Saturday, Sept. 23 at Columbia in a 10:00 a.m. contest.
