Women's Tennis Defeats Columbia, 5-2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's tennis team defeated Columbia, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon. Brown won the doubles point and took four out of the six singles matches en route to its victory.
Senior Dayna Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.) and junior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted a 6-3 with in first doubles and freshman Devon Jack (San Marino, Calif.) and sophomore Taylor Cosme (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) battled to a 7-5 victory in third doubles to give the Bears the doubles point.
Lord also recorded a win in first singles (6-3, 6-2) while Jack followed in the third spot (6-2, 6-2). Sophomore Katie Ta (Mission Viejo, Calif.) next registered a 6-4, 7-6 win in fifth singles while Cosme rounded out the wins for the Bears in sixth singles (6-4, 7-5).
The Bears will close out the regular season tomorrow (April 23) at home, hosting Cornell in a 12:30 p.m. match. The match was moved up from its originally scheduled time of 12:00 p.m.
