
Women's Lacrosse Hosts Bryant on Wednesday Night in Eighth Annual Ocean State Cup

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will host Bryant in the Eighth Annual Ocean State Cup game on Wednesday night starting at 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson-Pincince Field.

LAST TIME OUT
After trailing 5-1 following the first half, Brown generated six goals in the second but No. 11/12 Princeton held off the Bears for a 10-7 win at Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium on Saturday. Sophomore Carolyn Paletta led the Bears in scoring in the contest with three goals.
LAST TIME VS. BRYANT
The Bears defeated the Bulldogs, 11-10, in the Seventh Annual Ocean State Cup on on March 9 at the Bryant Track and Turf Complex. Graduated senior Lauren Toy '16 led Brown in scoring with three goals and two assists. With the win, the Bears improved to 7-0 all-time versus the Bulldogs.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Bryant opened the season at No. 5/4 Stony Brook on Feb. 18 and fell to the Seawolves, 20-5. The Bulldogs have since gone on to win two straight, the first versus Holy Cross on Feb. 25 (14-3) and the second against Vermont on March 4 (12-8). Three players share the team lead in points with Caitlin Breglia and Caitlin Brown recording an identical six goals and two assists while Jess DeMeo has five goals and three assists. Samantha Santeramo has started all three games in net, logging 150:00 minutes, a 9.20 goals-against average and a .425 save percentage.
BROWN LEADERS
The Bears offense is powered by sophomore Hafsa Moinuddin, who has 14 points on 12 goals and two assists. Sophomore Carolyn Paletta is second on the team in scoring with nine goals and one assist for 10 points, and hat tricks in all three games she has played in. Junior Emma Dahle (2G, 4A) and sophomore Zoe Verni (5G, 1A) are tied for third in scoring. Junior Mikaela Karlsson has started all four games in net and carries a 6.96 goals-against average and a .597 save percentage.
BEARS DEFENSE RANKS FOURTH IN THE NATION
Brown's defense ranks fourth in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 6.75 goals per game. To open the season, the Bears posted a 19-0 shutout over Sacred Heart on Feb. 18. Junior goalie Mikaela Karlsson is third in the nation in both GAA (6.96) and save percentage (.597).
