Women's Tennis Cruises to a 6-1 Win at UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. - The Brown women's tennis team defeated UC Irvine, 6-1, at Anteater Tennis Stadium on Tuesday. After losing the doubles point, the Bears came back to win all six singles matches for the victory.
UC Irvine started the match by taking the doubles point with wins in first and third doubles.
In singles action, senior Dayna Lord (Bloomfield, Conn.) opened play with a 6-1, 6-2 win in second singles. Sophomore Taylor Cosme (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) followed with a victory in fourth singles (6-1, 6-2) and junior Maddie Stearns (Short Hills, N.J.) next posted a 6-0, 7-6 (7-4) win in the third position. Senior Mariska Chamdani (Santa Clara, Calif.) won her sixth singles match 7-5, 6-1 and freshman Juliana Simon (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished soon after in fifth singles (6-4, 6-2). Junior Alyza Benotto (Los Angeles, Calif.) closed out the day for the Bears with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 showing in first singles.
The Bears remain in California and will next take on Long Beach State on Thursday, March 30 for a 5:00 p.m. ET match.
