
Women's Lacrosse Hosts No. 11/11 Penn On Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will host No. 11/11 Penn on Saturday, March 25 at Stevenson-Pincince Field in an Ivy League contest starting at 1:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Ivy League Digital Network, ESPN3 and Facebook Live.

LAST TIME OUT
Brown held a 9-5 lead at halftime but Yale would go on to outscore the Bears 7-1 in the final half to claim a 12-10 win at Stevenson-Pincince Field on Saturday. Sophomore Hafsa Moinuddin (2G, 1A) and freshman KC Williams (1G, 2A) both led the Bears in scoring with three points. Defensively, senior Ali Kim recorded five ground balls and forced four turnovers while junior Marissa Hudgins also had a strong performance with four ground balls and four caused turnovers.
LAST TIME VS. PENN
Brown was defeated 8-3 in last year's match-up at No. 16/19 Penn on March 5. The contest was the Ivy League opener for both teams. The Quakers registered four goals in each half while the Bears tallied one score in the first and two in the second.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Penn enters Saturday with a 6-2 overall record and a 0-1 mark in the Ivy League, a 10-4 loss to then No. 15/16 Cornell. The Quakers most recently played at No. 1/1 Maryland on Wednesday (March 22) and fell to the Terrapins, 11-7. Alex Condon leads the team in points with 32 on a team-high 23 goals and nine assists. Emily Rogers-Healion leads the team in assists with 12 and has 13 goals for 25 points on the season. Britt Brown has played a full 480:00 minutes in net and has put together an 8.12 goals-against average and a .588 save percentage. Penn has outscored its opponents 88-65 on the season.
BROWN LEADERS
The Bears offense is powered by sophomore Hafsa Moinuddin, who has 20 points on 16 goals and four assists. Sophomore Carolyn Paletta is second on the team in scoring with 14 goals and one assist for 15 points while sophomore Zoe Verni (10G, 1A) is third in scoring. Junior Marissa Hudgins is Brown's ground ball leader with 21 on the year, which ranks third in the conference (3.00 per game). Junior Mikaela Karlsson has started all seven games in net and carries a 7.61 goals-against average (second in Ivies) and a .553 save percentage (third in Ivies). Offensively, Brown is outscoring its opponents 78-53 overall on the season.
BEARS DEFENSE RANKS THIRD IN THE NATION
Entering the week, Brown's defense ranks third in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 7.57 goals per game. To open the season, the Bears posted a 19-0 shutout over Sacred Heart on Feb. 18. Junior goalie Mikaela Karlsson is sixth nationally in save percentage (.553) and tied for fourth in goals-against average (7.61).
