
Women's Hockey Falls at No. 10/10 Quinnipiac, 9-0

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by No. 10/10 Quinnipiac, 9-0, on Friday night at High Point Solutions Arena.
Quinnipiac (17-7-5, 10-5-2 ECAC) scored its first goal at 4:03 of the opening period with Meghan Turner logging the tally. The Bobcats added three more goals in the period to take a 4-0 advantage into the first intermission. The first frame was clean as neither team committed an infraction.
Turner scored the lone goal of the second period (8:51) while on the power play. QU went 1-for-2 in the stanza on the power play while Brown (5-19-0, 3-14-0 ECAC) was 0-for-4.
Sarah Coutu-Godbout scored her second goal of the game to open the third (2:53). Later in the final period, Turner registered her third goal for the hat trick. The Bobcats scored two power-play goals in the third, which included Turner's score.
Freshman Veronica Alois (Andover, Mass.) and junior Samantha Swanstrom (Ham Lake, Minn.) both recorded three shots for the Bears in the game.
Junior Sam Donovan's (New Brighton, Minn.) four-game point streak came to a close in the contest. The forward recorded one goal and three assists in the span.
Senior Monica Elvin (Oakland, Calif.) made 15 saves in the loss while junior Julianne Landry (Hanover, Mass.) tallied 27. Abbie Ives finished the contest with 12 saves for Quinnipiac in the shutout.
The Bears will close out the weekend tomorrow (Feb. 4) at No. 9/9 Princeton with a 3:00 p.m. contest.
