
Emrich Leads Men's Track & Field at Ivy Heptagonal Championship

NEW YORK – Junior Zack Emrich (North Kingstown, R.I.) captured his second straight title in the 500 meters to lead the Brown men's track & field team on the final day of the Ivy League Indoor Track & Field Championships at The Armory in New York City.
Princeton captured the men's title with 147 points, followed by Cornell (101), Dartmouth (82), Yale (78), Penn (65), Harvard (58), Columbia (56) and Brown (32).
Emrich defended his title in the 500 meters, crossing in a time of 1:03.08 to beat Penn's Jeff Wiseman, who crossed at 1:03.80. The duo has claimed the top two spots in the event for three straight seasons. Fellow junior Max Haensel (Raleigh, N.C.) suffered an injury during the final of the event despite posting the top qualifying time (1:02.72) in the preliminaries.
Junior Tosin Oyewole (Elkridge, Md.) was runner-up in the 400 meters in a time of 48.08, while rookie Zachary Lanigan (Sydney, Australia) claimed fifth in the finals of the 800 meters at 1:51.87.
The 4x400 meter relay team of Nik Zemis (New Philadelphia, Ohio), Raul Green (Hopatcong, N.J.), Calvin Munson (Boulder, Colo.) and Oyewole placed fifth in a time of 3:16.06. The 4x800 meter team of Martin Martinez, Lanigan, Michael Wyman (Marion, Mass.) and Emrich also took fifth at 7:40.27.
Sophomore Owen Russell (Attleboro, Mass.) placed fourth overall in the weight throw on Saturday as he used his opening throw for a toss of 61-06.75. Senior Aaron Comery (Coventry, R.I.) placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 54-02.75.
Freshman Ryan Laudermilk (Riverside, Calif.) was sixth in the high jump with a cleared height of 6-08.25, while sophomore Jason Katz (Wyckoff, N.Y.) also placed sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 49-09.75.
Junior Brian Pfaff (Johannesburg, South Africa) qualified for the finals in both the 60 meters and 200 meters on Saturday, but suffered an injury in the 60-meter finals, missing the 200-meter championships.
