
Women's Track & Field Completes Day One at Ivy Championship

NEW YORK – The Brown women's track & field team is currently in seventh place with 2.33 points after the first day of the Ivy League Indoor Track & Field Championships at The Armory in New York City.
Junior Maxine Offiaeli (South Windsor, Conn.) placed fifth overall in the weight throw, using her second throw for a toss of 59-01.50.
In the pentathlon, junior Carly Paul (Fort Collins, Colo.) placed fourth with 3,618 total points, highlighted by a second-place finish in the high jump with a cleared height of 5-05.75.
Rookie Amanda Block (Beverly Hills, Calif.) placed sixth in the pole vault with a cleared height of 12-03.50.
On the track, junior Clare Peabody (Aptos, Calif.) turned in a third-place finish in the prelims of the 1,000 meters at 2:52.87 to qualify for the finals.
Freshman Zion Lewis (Canton, Ga.) advanced to the finals of the 60 meters as she placed fifth in the prelims at 7.53, while fellow rookie May Stern (Providence, R.I.) took fourth in the 400 meters in a time of 56.96 to reach the finals.
Senior Taylor Worthy (Medfield, Mass.) was fourth in the preliminaries of the mile in a time of 4:50.81 to advance to Sunday. Junior Alexis Van Pernis (Kailua Kona, Hawaii) was seventh in the 800 meters at 2:10.38 to qualify for Sunday's final, while Audrey Holt (Alpharetta, Ga.) qualified for the 200 meters in a time of 24.80.
The Bears wrap up the Ivy Heptagonal Championships on Sunday in New York City.
