PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University announced today that Diane Short has retired as volleyball head coach after 25 seasons. A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
"I want to thank Coach Short for her contributions to the Brown volleyball program and its student-athletes over the past 25 years," Brown Director of Athletics Jack Hayes said. "I wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavors."
"Over the past 25 years, I have been blessed to work with and coach so many incredible young women," said Short. "The relationships that I have developed with players, coaches, and parents during that time will be cherished for the rest of my life. I now look forward to the next chapter in my life where I will spend more time with my husband and family."
Short served as the leader of the Bears from 1993-2017 and led Brown to three Ivy League titles and two NCAA Championship appearances. During her time at Brown, she coached 27 All-Ivy student-athletes, three Ivy League Players of the Year, and two Ivy League Rookies of the Year.
