
Schoeller '15 Places Fourth with U.S. Women's Eight at World Championships

SARASOTA, Fla. – Brown University women's crew alumna Coco Schoeller '15 placed fourth with the U.S. Women's Eight at the 2017 World Rowing Championships at Nathan Benderson Park on Sunday.
A native of Palm Beach, Fla., Schoeller helped the U.S. come in fourth behind a time of 6:09.250 topping fifth-place Great Britain (6:09.960) by 0.710 seconds as well as the Netherlands (6:10.830). The U.S. trailed third-place New Zealand (6:07.270) by 1.980 seconds in addition to second-place Canada (6:07.090) and first-place Romania (6:06.400).
Earlier in the week, Schoeller and the U.S. boat came in second in their heat with a time of 6:09.410, trailing New Zealand (6:08.420) and topping Great Britain (6:15.100) and Russia (6:30.360). In its repechage, the boat came in second behind a time of 6:11.830 just behind Canada (6:11.320) and ahead of Great Britain (6:17.780) and three other crews.
Brown's Marjorie Brown Smith Award winner and an Ivy League champion in 2015, Schoeller has trained at the USRowing Training Center in Princeton, N.J., since graduating from Brown. On the senior level, she won silver in the women's four at the 2016 World Championships and took silver again in the women's four at the 2017 World Rowing Cup II.
