Women's Crew Places Second in Women's Eight at Princeton Chase

PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown University women's crew placed second in the women's varsity open eight event at the Princeton 3-Mile Chase on Lake Carnegie in its fall finale on Sunday morning.
The Bears' A boat (bow 44) finished second in a time of 14:07.507 in a field of 52 entries in the women's eight (event 2A). Brown topped second-place Virginia (14:09.010) by 1.503 seconds and fourth-place Duke (14:22.950) by 15.443 seconds. Brown trailed first-place Princeton (13:57.833) by 9.674 seconds.
Brown's B entry (bow 63) placed seventh with a time of 14:29.685, finishing second among B boats and defeating 11 A boats. The Bears' beat eighth-place Princeton B (14:32.007) by 2.322 seconds and trailed sixth-place Dartmouth A (14:28.945) by just .740 seconds.
The Bears' C boat (bow 81) came in 28th place overall behind a time of 15:23.136, finishing fourth among C boats and topping A entries from Drexel and Georgetown. The crew edged 29th-place Drexel B (15:24.203) by 1.067 seconds and fell to 27th-place MIT A (15:20.255) by 2.881 seconds.
Brown's D entry (bow 94) finished in 31st place overall, second among D boats, with a time of 15:28.795. The crew also defeated A entries from Drexel and Georgetown. The Bears topped 32nd-place Drexel A (15:30.839) by 2.044 seconds and fell to 30th-place Dartmouth C (15:27.439) by 1.356 seconds.
Next, Brown will resume racing in the spring at Princeton with Michigan on Saturday, March 24.
