PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior Katherine Kallergis (Lake Forest, Ill.) scored for the Brown field hockey team on Senior Day but the Bears fell to Penn, 6-1, at Goldberger Family Field on Saturday afternoon.
Penn (9-6, 4-2 Ivy League) generated multiple shots early in the first half but junior Katie Hammaker (Ephrata, Pa.) stopped all of them, recording five saves in the sequence. The Quakers were able to get on the board at 13:37 when Kelsey Mendell scored on a tough bouncing ball that snuck by Hammaker. Penn closed out the period with two more goals from Gina Guccione (23:06) and Alexa Hoover (25:15) to claim a 3-0 advantage going into the break.
Jasmine Li opened the second half scoring for Penn at 43:56 to increase its lead to four. Hoover later added her second of the contest at 54:49 and Jordyn Thies closed out the scoring for the Quakers at 62:35.
Kallergis put the Bears (1-15, 0-6 Ivy League) on the board with her second goal of the season at 65:41 on a loose ball in front of the Quaker goal.
Hammaker concluded the game with 11 saves, her eighth double-digit save performance of the season. Penn was awarded nine penalty corners overall, compared to Brown's one in the contest.
Brown will next close out the regular season at Yale on Saturday, Nov. 4 in a 1:00 p.m. Ivy game.
Video of all Brown field hockey home contests and all Ivy League games, home and away, will be broadcast live on the Ivy League Network.
