NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Brown men's swimming & diving team was defeated by Columbia, 193-108, on Saturday at Uris Pool in an Ivy League meet. "We are improving each week as the team dials into the champion season," said head coach Chris Ip. "I'm confident the team will be shooting for season-best performances in our final dual meet on January 28th, as we honor our seniors against Cornell."
A team of sophomore Nicholas Brown (Sudbury, Mass.), senior Connor Lohman (Prospect, Ky.), freshman Joon Sung (Los Angeles, Calif.) and senior Jack Nee (Pepper Pike, Ohio) took second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.19 to open the meet.

Sophomore Liam Hollowsky (Naples, Fla.) swam to a third-place finish in both the 200 freestyle (1:41.26) and the 500 freestyle 4:36.53. Junior Grant Casey (North Attleboro, Mass.) and sophomore Matt Orringer (Ann Arbor, Mich.) went 3-4 in the 1000 freestyle with times of 9:45.32 and 9:48.85, respectively.

In addition to winning the 200 butterfly in 1:50.09, Springman was second in the 200 IM (1:54.10). Sung finished in third place (49.80) for the 100 butterfly.
Takahashi won the 200 breaststroke in 2:04.48. Lohman placed third in the 100 breaststroke (57.90).
The 400 freestyle relay team of freshman Jagger Stephens (Agana Heights, Hagatna, Guam) freshman Alex Smilenov (Orlando, Fla.), sophomore Charles Steele (Katy, Texas) and Cline were slightly out touched by .06 to end the meet in second place.
"Our staff will focus on the little details of our races as we got touched out in too many races today against the Lions," said Ip. "Once again the trio of Riley Springman, Coley Sullivan, and Cody Cline have been consistently paving the way with big individual swims."
The Bears will host their final meet of the regular season on Saturday, Jan. 28 against Cornell at 12:00 p.m.
