
Men's Soccer Hosts Columbia in Ivy Opener on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's soccer team will kick off the Ivy League season on Saturday when the Bears welcome Columbia to Stevenson-Pincince Field at 7 PM.

FACULTY & STAFF APPRECIATION DAY DOUBLEHEADER
Brown women's and men's soccer host Columbia in a doubleheader on Saturday with the women's team playing the Lions at 3:30 p.m. prior to a 7:00 p.m. kickoff for the men's side. The twin bill will serve as the two programs' Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day with Brown University faculty and staff receiving up to four free tickets to the games. All faculty and staff must pick up tickets in advance at the Brown athletics ticket office by Friday, Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. One ticket provides entry into both contests.
LAST TIME OUT
Brown (5-3) wrapped up a five-game road swing on Tuesday when the Bears rallied for a comeback win at Holy Cross, 3-2, in overtime. Rookie Rodrigo D'Andrea and junior Nico Lozada both scored in the second half to force overtime, before Nate Pomeroy scored his third goal of the season at 92:08 for the victory.
Brown advanced to 3-0 in overtime games this season with OT wins over Georgia State and URI in addition to Holy Cross.
SCOUTING COLUMBIA
Columbia heads into the weekend at 4-2 overall and most recently fell to Fordham, 2-1, in overtime. Arthur Bosua leads the Lion in goals (3), game winners (2) and points (7), while Andrew Tinari has a pair of assists. Keeper Zach Adler ranks second in the league with a .784 save percentage to go along with a 1.29 goals against average and two shutouts.
LAST TIME AGAINST COLUMBIA
Brown earned a 2-1 victory at Columbia last season behind a pair of second-half goals by Jack Hagstrom and Will Cross to complete the comeback victory.
LOZADA LEADS THE WAY
Nico Lozada leads the Ivy League with five assists and is tied for the league lead with nine points, along with Jake Freeman from Harvard. Lozada has posted at least one point in all but two games this season.
COMING UP
After this weekend, Brown will host Providence College on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7 PM.
