Men's Soccer Rallies Past Holy Cross, 3-2, in Overtime

WORCESTER, Mass. – Facing a two-goal deficit at halftime, the Brown men's soccer team scored three unanswered goals, including the game-winner by Nate Pomeroy (Groton, Mass.) in overtime to rally past Holy Cross, 3-2, Tuesday night at Smith Soccer Stadium.

Brown (5-3) earned its second straight win and improved to 3-0 in overtime games this season. Holy Cross dropped to 5-4 overall.

Rookie Rodrigo D'Andrea (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and junior Nico Lozada (Dallas, Texas) both scored in the second half to force overtime, before Pomeroy scored his third goal of the season at 92:08 for the victory. Lozada also added an assist on Pomeroy's game-winning tally.

Erik Hanson (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) earned his fifth win of the season in net for the Bears, while Bobby Hurstak, who came in for starter Henry Stutz, took the loss for the Crusaders.

Luka Milidragovic put Holy Cross on the board in the 26th minute, before Joseph Metzger notched an unassisted goal ten minutes later, giving the home team the two-goal advantage at the end of the half. Holy Cross outshot the Bears, 6-1, in the opening half.

D'Andrea scored early in the second half at 49:18 with his first collegiate goal. The rookie took a pass from Tyler Long (Clarksville, Tenn.) and fired a shot from ten yards out to trim the lead to one, 2-1.

Lozada notched the equalizer at 75:35 when he converted a header off a corner kick for his second goal of the season. Sophomore Matthew Chow (Vancouver, British Columbia) earned an assist on the play. Pomeroy provided the heroics at 92:08 as he drilled a shot in the upper corner from 25 yards out for the team's second overtime win in as many games.

Brown outshot the Crusaders, 12-11.

The Bears open Ivy League play on Saturday when they play host to Columbia at 7 PM.
