
Women's Hockey Announces Award Winners and 2016-17 Captains

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Kelly Micholson (Elk Grove Village, Ill.) was named Team MVP and the Tara Mounsey Best Defenseman to headline Brown women's hockey annual team awards, announced by head coach Bob Kenneally '90 on Wednesday night at the team's banquet.
Senior Hunter Davis (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and junior Maddie Woo (Plymouth, Minn.) were both selected for the Alli McMillan Unsung Hero Award while sophomore Cynthia Kyin (Skokie, Ill.) was chosen as the squad's Most Improved Player. Davis joined Micholson in earning multiple honors, and also took home the Academic Excellence Award.
Senior Alli Rolandelli (Minnetonka, Minn.) was crowned the team's Best Teammate Award, which was named after the defenseman this season.
Junior Monica Elvin (Oakland, Calif.) and sophomore Sam Donovan (New Brighton, Minn.) rounded out the awards, sharing the honors for the Chelsea McMillan Award for Pride and Perseverance.
All three seniors in Hunter Davis, Kelly Micholson and Alli Rolandelli were also recognized for their contributions to the team over the past four years.
To close the banquet, the 2016-17 captains were announced. Woo, who dressed as the team's assistant captain this past year, will don the "C" next year as the squad's lone captain, while Donovan and freshman Bridget Carey (Weymouth, Mass.) were named assistant captains. Woo led the team in points (15) and was tied for the lead in assists (9) while Donovan carried the goal-lead with seven on the year and ranked second in scoring (14). Carey tied for second in goals scored (6) and tied for third on the team in overall scoring (11).

- Ranked second on the team in defensive scoring, with one goals and six assists
- Led the team in blocked shots with 53, her second consecutive year leading this category
- Dressed as the team's co-captain
Alli McMillan Unsung Hero Award: Hunter Davis and Maddie Woo

- Scored her first collegiate goal at Merrimack on Jan. 19
- Blocked 28 shots
- Assistant captain
Woo
- Led the team in scoring with 15 points on six goals and a team-high nine assists
- Recorded three multi-point games
- Set career-highs in assists (3 - vs. Sacred Heart) and goals (2 - vs. Yale)
- Assistant captain
Most Improved Player Award: Cynthia Kyin
- Scored her first-career goal at Cornell, which was the game-tying goal, giving the Bears their first point at Cornell since 2007
- Blocked 35 shots
- Ended the season with one goal and one assist
Alison Rolandelli Best Teammate Award: Alli Rolandelli
- Dressed as the team's co-captain
- Blocked 31 shots
- Selected as the BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian Award Finalist
- Sarah Devens Award winner
Chelsea McMillan Award for Pride and Perseverance: Monica Elvin and Sam Donovan
Elvin
- Logged 870:21 minutes in net over the season, racking up 517 saves
- Posted a career-high 51 saves vs. Harvard on Feb. 5
- Had three 40+ save performances
Donovan
- Recorded 14 points on a team-high seven goals and seven assists
- Tallied a hat-trick against Sacred Heart on Nov. 14
- Earned ECAC Player of the Week honors on Nov. 17
- Registered three multi-point games
- Posted career-highs in goals (3), assists (2) and points (3) over the year
Academic Excellence Award: Hunter Davis
- Represented Brown as the ECAC Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year Finalist for the second consecutive year
- Obtained a 4.0 GPA all four years at Brown as a Political Science Concentrator
