
Women's Lacrosse Travels to Yale on Saturday for Ivy League Showdown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's lacrosse team will face its second Ivy League opponent in Yale on Saturday, March 19 for a 1:00 p.m. game in New Haven, Conn. The Bears are 0-1 in conference games this season, having previously lost 8-3 to No. 16/19 Penn on Saturday, March 5.

ALL-TIME VERSUS YALE
The Bears are 7-33-1 all-time against Yale, having last won in 2011, an 11-4 victory. Last year Brown fell 8-3 in Providence. Senior Rebecca Dahle, sophomore Marissa Hudgins and senior Richael Walsh scored last season's meeting.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale enters the weekend with a 3-4 overall record, 3-3 in non-conference play and 0-1 in the Ivy League. The Bulldogs faced tough competition at No. 10 Stony Brook on March 8, falling 13-7 to the Seawolves. In the team's lone Ivy League game, Yale was defeated by Cornell, 10-6 (March 5). Last weekend, Yale posted an impressive 17-7 win over George Washington. Junior Tess McEvoy leads the team in points (19) with a team-high 15 goals and four assists. Junior Hope Hanley and senior Lauren Wackerle share the team-lead in assists with five. Hanley ranks second on the squad with 15 points while Wackerle is third (12 points). In net, sophomore Sydney Marks has started all seven games, putting together a 9.03 goals against average, 59 saves, and a .484 save percentage.
LAST TIME OUT: BEARS OUTLAST COLGATE, 9-5
Brown defeated Colgate, 9-5, in a non-conference contest on Sunday at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The Bears were powered by a hat trick from junior Kerianne Hunt (Alamo, Calif.), who completed the feat in the opening half to get the offense going.
The Bears took a 4-2 lead into the break, with Hunt recording her hat trick in the opening half with the additional of a score from freshman Zoe Verni.
Colgate struck first in the second half before Brown went on to score two-straight from senior Lauren Toy and sophomore Rose Mangiarotti to take a 6-3 lead. The Raiders then scored two-straight of their own to pull within one of Brown (6-5).
Brown then went on to score three unanswered goals to seal the win. The scoring started with senior Richael Walsh on a free position score. The Bears added another free position tally from junior Jillian Lee. Toy rounded out the three goals. The Bear offense moved the ball around effectively the rest of the way to prevent the Raiders from scoring. Senior Victoria Holland recorded five saves in net for the Bears. Brown held the edge in shots, 22-17, and draw controls, 9-7, in the contest. The Bears were a perfect 2-for-2 in free position shots while Colgate was 2-for-5.
BROWN CAPTURES SEVENTH-STRAIGHT OCEAN STATE CUP AT BRYANT
The Bears defeated Bryant, 11-10, in the Seventh Annual Ocean State Cup on Wednesday night at the Bryant Track and Turf Complex. With the win, the Bears move to 7-0 all-time against the Bulldogs. Senior Lauren Toy led the team in scoring with three goals and two assists while freshman Hafsa Moinuddin registered her first collegiate points on two goals and two assists. Senior Victoria Holland tallied five saves.
TOY LEADS BEARS IN SCORING
For the second-straight year, senior Lauren Toy leads the Bears in goals (13) and points (20). This season she also leads the squad in assists (7). The tri-captain has recorded two hat tricks, her first, a four-goal performance in the team's first game, and her second, a three goal and two assist performance against Bryant to capture Brown's seventh-straight Ocean State Cup. Toy has registered multiple points in five of the Bears' six games, including a four-assist game against CCSU combined with a goal. Toy is tied for fifth in the Ivy League in points and is also tied for sixth in the conference in goals and assists.
HUDGINS A DEFENSIVE PRESENCE
Sophomore Marissa Hudgins ranks fifth in the Ivy League in caused turnovers, averaging 1.40 per game.
