
Women's Hockey Falls at No. 5/5 Clarkson, 7-0

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Brown women's hockey team was defeated by No. 5/5 Clarkson, 7-0, at Cheel Arena on Friday night.
The Golden Knights (25-3-5, 13-3-5 ECAC) opened their scoring with a short-handed tally at 7:41 of the first period by Olivia Howe. At 19:09, Howe registered her second goal of the game while Loren Gabel snuck in a score in at 19:55 to close the period with a 3-0 Clarkson lead. Each team ended the stanza 0-for-1 on the power play.
Cayley Mercer opened the second period with a score at 1:43. Renata Fast then notched a goal at 4:11. Loren Gabel closed out scoring in the second with a goal at 12:02. The Bears were 0-for-1 in the period on the power play.
Clarkson finished with one more tally in the third period, by Gabel, to complete her hat trick. Brown (3-22-3, 1-17-3 ECAC) had its highest offensive output in the period, with six shots on goal.
Junior Monica Elvin (Oakland, Calif.) finished the game with 41 saves while Shea Tiley and McKenzie Johnson combined for the shutout with three and eight saves, respectively.
Clarkson concluded the game with a 48-11 advantage in shots. The Golden Knights were 0-for-1 on the power play while the Bears were 0-for-2.
The Bears conclude the 2015-16 season tomorrow (Feb. 20) at St. Lawrence with a 4:00 p.m. game.
