The Bears maintained an 8-point edge or better for the majority of the second quarter with an elbow jumper from Alexander giving the Bears a 25-15 lead at the 5:54 mark of the second quarter.
A Mehta 3-pointer on a second-chance opportunity put Brown up 28-17, and the Bears scored the stanza's last five points on a Musgrove fast break layup and a Mehta trey to lead 35-21 – its largest lead of the half – at the break.
A number of Bears contributed in the opening 20 minutes as eight performers checked into the scoring column. Sophomore Kennedy Martin (Los Angeles, Calif.) drew a pair of charges, freshman Mary Butler (Bangor, Maine) snagged four offensive rebounds, and sophomore guard Megan Reilly (Norwood, N.J.) took in three rebounds.
The Big Green outscored the Bears 21-5 in the third quarter to erase their halftime deficit and pull ahead 42-40 through three. Alexander hit a jumper along the lane to stop an 8-0 Dartmouth run, and Mehta connected on a corner 3-pointer to end a 15-2 run for the visitors.
