Pawelski, Powers Top Finishers for Wrestling at Journeymen Tussle

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Freshmen Jimmy Pawelski and Theo Powers finished first and second respectively at 133 lbs. in the B bracket to lead Brown University wrestling at the Journeymen Tussle Tournament at Hofstra University's David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Sunday.
Pawelski (Park Ridge, Ill.) won four straight bouts to take first place in the B bracket at 133 lbs. while Powers (Mexico, N.Y.) went 3-1 in the same bracket to claim second place.
In A bracket competition, sophomore Ian Butterbrodt (North Andover, Mass.) notched a 3-1 record to come in third place at 285 lbs., sophomore CJ LaFragola (Little Egg Harbor, N.J.) won a bout to place fourth at 184 lbs., junior Michael Russo (Jersey City, N.J.) won twice to finish fifth at 125 lbs., and sophomore Jon Viruet (Springfield, Mass.) picked up a win to place fifth at 174 lbs.
In additional B bracket action, seniors William McDonald (Carson City, Nev.) and Richard Muniz (Corona, Calif.) each tallied a win to finish third at 157 and 165 lbs. respectively. At 197 lbs., junior Josh Durso-Finley (Lawrenceville, N.J.) won once to come in fourth.
Other teams competing at the tournament outside of Brown included Rutgers, NC State, Penn, Campbell, The Citadel, and Hofstra.
Next, Brown will return to competition at the Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill., at Northwestern from Dec. 29-30.
