
Men's Hockey Travels to Arizona for Desert Hockey Classic

The Brown men's hockey team will open the second half of the season at the Arizona State Desert Hockey Classic on Dec. 30-31 at the Prescott Valley Event Center. Brown will open against the host Sun Devils on Friday and then play either UConn or St. Cloud State on Saturday. Links to live video and live stats will be available at www.brownbears.com.

Last Time Out
Brown downed Rensselaer, 6-3, in early December to close out the first half of the season. The Bears scored three goals in the third period, including the game winner from Conner Wynne, to snap a tie game and secure the victory. Six different players scored for the Bears, and five had multiple-point games, while rookie Gavin Nieto stopped 19 saves to pick up the win in net. Brown outshot RPI, 34-22.
Scouting Arizona State
Arizona State (7-13-0, Independent) heads into the Desert Hockey Classic with a three-game winning streak and has won four of the last five contests. Senior Robbie Baillargeon leads the team with eight goals, four power-play goals and 15 points, while David Norris has nine assists. Joey Daccord, Robert Levin and Ryland Pashovitz have played equal time in net. Levin leads the trio of goalies with three wins to go along with a 3.48 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage. The Sun Devils average 2.55 goals per game and check in at 11.6 percent on the power play. Arizona State is 2-4 against ECAC teams this season and earned wins against Colgate and Rensselaer.

Brown and Arizona State will meet for the first time ever in the opening game of the Desert Hockey Classic.
Scouting UConn
Connecticut (6-6-6, 4-3-2 HEA) is unbeaten over the last three games with wins over UMass Lowell and Massachusetts and will play St. Cloud State in the Desert Hockey Classic on Friday. Tage Thompson is third in Hockey East with 12 goals and leads the Huskies with 20 points. Maxim Letunov ranks second on the team in scoring with 15 points and leads the Huskies with 11 assists. Adam Huska has started the last three games in net and leads UConn with a 2.54 GAA and a .926 save percentage. UConn ranks third in Hockey East on the penalty kill, clocking in at 86.5 percent.
Brown vs. UConn All-Time
Brown and UConn have met eight times, with the Bears leading the all-time series, 5-2-1. UConn topped Brown, 3-1, in last year's midweek matchup in Hartford.
Scouting St. Cloud State
St. Cloud State (8-7-1, 4-5-1 NCHC) most recently split a series with Omaha in early December. Mikey Eyssimont leads the team with 14 points on eight goals and six assists, while Judd Peterson has nine goals. Zach Driscoll has played a majority of the time in net and heads into the tournament at 6-5-1 with a 3.13 GAA and a .889 save percentage with one shutout. St. Cloud State ranks third in the NCHC on the power play (20.6) and second on the penalty kill (84.7).
Brown vs. SCSU All-Time
If Brown plays St. Cloud State on Saturday it will be the 10th meeting all-time between the two programs. SCSU leads the series, 7-1-1, and captured the most recent meeting, 5-3, during the 2009-10 season.
Beaudoin Nets Weekly Honor
Freshman Brent Beaudoin was named the ECAC Rookie of the Week on Dec. 13 for the team's first weekly award of the season. Beaudoin led all ECAC rookies with three points in a pair of league games, scoring one goal with two assists and a +3 rating. Beaudoin assisted on the team's lone goal against No. 14 Union and then added one goal and one assist in the win over Rensselaer.
Spreading the Wealth
Six different players scored in the win over Rensselaer (12/10), while 12 players landed on the scoresheet and five had multiple-point efforts. Brown's six goals were the most in a win since last season against Colgate, 7-5, at the UVM Catamount Cup.
After the Desert Hockey Classic, the Bears will host New Hampshire on Saturday, Jan. 7 in a non-conference contest.
