
Men's Hockey Hosts Cornell (Fri.), Colgate (Sat.) This Weekend

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown men's hockey team will return home this weekend for a pair of ECAC games against Cornell (Fri.) and Colgate (Sat.) at Meehan Auditorium. Links to live video and live stats will be available at www.brownbears.com.

Last Time Out
Brown dropped a pair of ECAC road games at RPI, 3-1, and No. 16 Union, 6-4, last weekend. Rookie Brent Beaudoin scored his first career goal in the loss at RPI, while Gavin Nieto made 28 saves in net. The Bears scored three consecutive third-period goals to take a one-goal lead at Union on Saturday, but the Dutchmen responded with three straight to take the win. Charlie Corcoran had two goals, including one on the power play. Sam Lafferty had three assists and defenseman Max Gottlieb registered two helpers.
Scouting Cornell
Cornell (0-2-1) tied Dartmouth, 1-1, and lost to Harvard, 4-3, on the road last weekend. Rookie defenseman Yanni Kaldis leads the Big Red in scoring with three points, all on assists, while Mitch Vanderlaan has two goals on the season. Mitch Gillam has started all three games in net and enters Friday with a 3.09 goals-against average and a .895 save percentage. Cornell has scored four of its six goals on the power play, clocking in at 23.5 percent, while the offense checks in at 2.00 goals per game.
Brown vs. Cornell All-Time
Cornell leads the all-time series with Brown, which began with an 8-2 Brown win on February 21, 1959, by a 74-43-7 margin. Brown went 0-1-1 against the Big Red last season, drawing even at home, 3-3.
Scouting Colgate
Colgate (1-4-4) tied Harvard, 1-1, and was shutout at Dartmouth, 2-0, last weekend. Ross Craig recorded the lone goal of the weekend for the Raiders, scoring on the power play against Harvard. Colgate won at Maine the previous weekend for its only win of the season. Adam Dauda leads the team in goals (3), all on the power play, and points (7), while John Snodgrass also has four assists. Charlie Finn has played seven games in net for a 1-3-3 record and heads into the weekend with a 2.69 GAA and a .908 save percentage. Colgate has nine power-play goals in nine games for a 14.1 percentage.
Brown vs. Colgate All-Time
The upcoming matchup will be the 86th meeting between the two teams in a series that began on March 8, 1935, a 1-0 Brown victory. Colgate leads the all-time series, 55-24-6. Brown went 2-0-1 against Colgate last season, outscoring the Raiders by a 13-6 margin. Tommy Marchin had five goals and two assists for seven points in those three games.
