
Women's Soccer's Schmidt Gains CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer junior defender Katy Schmidt has gained CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District accolades, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
A native of Corvallis, Ore., Schmidt has started 13 of 14 games at right back for the Bears while playing in 1,197 of a possible 1,340 minutes on the season. She has helped Brown's defense rank in the top 12 in the NCAA in save percentage (0.923, second), GAA (0.403, sixth), and shutout percentage (12th, 0.643). She scored her first collegiate goal in a 3-2 win at Holy Cross on Oct. 11.
In order to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must participate as a starter or an important reserve, have reached sophomore academic standing, and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.
Schmidt and the Bears play at Penn on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. in their final road game of the year before concluding the regular season with a home match against Yale on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 3:30 p.m.
