Equestrian Places Sixth at Home Show at Windswept Farm

WARREN, R.I. – Junior Annaliese Fries and sophomore Wallace Douglas each won blue ribbons as Brown University equestrian placed sixth at its lone home show of the fall season at Windswept Farm on Sunday.
Fries (Kirkland, Wash.) took first place in her class in intermediate fences while Douglas (Ipswich, Mass.) gained a first-place finish in her class in walk-trot-canter.
At the Brown IHSA Show, Johnson and Wales won the show with 40 points. Brown came in sixth with 21 points, finishing just behind fifth-place Assumption (22 points) and just ahead of seventh-place Becker (17 points).
Brown's second-place finishers on the day included senior Rebecca Chernick (Weston, Mass.) in walk-trot-canter and junior Samantha Spear (Chester Springs, Pa.) in open flat. Junior captain Sara Nordstrom (Medina, Wash.) posted a third-place performance in open fences.
Senior captain Kabisa Baughen (Sarasota, Fla.) placed fourth in open fences and sixth in open flat while junior captain Victoria Flagg (Great Falls, Va.) did not pin in intermediate flat.
Junior Anna Seto (Barrington, R.I.) finished second in novice fences and fourth in novice flat. Junior Caroline Marks (Seattle, Wash.) posted a sixth-place finish in novice flat, junior Nicole Nowak (East Greenwich, R.I.) came in sixth in her collegiate debut in novice flat, and junior Alejandra Zamora (New Canaan, Conn.) did not place in novice fences.
Supporting Douglas and Chernick in walk-trot-canter, senior Roshan Moazed (Brookline, Mass.) and junior Elizabeth Rao (Andover, Mass.) placed third and fifth respectively.
In walk-trot, junior Genoveva Eguiguren (Quito, Ecuador) led the way with a third-place finish. Junior Katrina Lee (Manila, Philippines) and sophomore Yinan Liu each came in sixth with Lee making her collegiate debut.
Next, Brown competes at the Becker IHSA Show on Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Becker College Equestrian Center in Paxton, Mass.
