
Women's Rugby Runs Past Yale, 81-5

NEW HAVEN, Conn.– The Brown women's rugby team defeated Yale, 81-5, in an Ivy League contest on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The Bears got on the board quickly, opening the match with a try by sophomore Elise Hinkle (Sudbury, Mass.) and a successful conversion by junior Beth Clifton (Attleboro, Mass.) to gather a 7-0 lead. Brown continued to put the offensive pressure on and registered three more tries, including two good conversions. Junior Hannah Yi's (Los Angeles, Calif.) try and Clifton's kick made it 33-0 in favor of the Bears.
Brown's offense continued to roll in the second half as Yi opened the second stanza with another try. Senior Sofia Rudin's (Baltimore, Md.) score later increased the Bears' lead to 57-0. Sophomore Louise Leitao (Porto Alegre, Brazil) and senior Oksana Goretaya (West Warwick, R.I.) closed out the scoring for Brown, for the final of 81-5.
The Bears will next compete in the Ivy League Championship Quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 22. Opponent and site have yet to be determined.
