PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's soccer hosts intrastate opponent Bryant University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Stevenson Field prior to returning to Ivy League play at Columbia University on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Commisso Soccer Stadium.

LAST WEEK
Last week, the Bears (3-4-1, 0-0-1 Ivy) topped Sacred Heart University, 3-2, in overtime on Wednesday and earned a point in a 0-0 draw with Dartmouth College on Sunday in the Ivy opener for both teams.
Against the Pioneers, senior Erin Katz (Montgomery, Ala.) scored all three goals for the Bears – marking her first career multi-goal game – and notched the game winner at 93:50.
In the league opener vs. the Big Green, freshman goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) made seven saves in her second shutout of the year while the Bears' back four of sophomores Maclaine Lehan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Sarah Cobb (North Tustin, Calif.) and freshmen Megan Grant (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Nicole Phillips (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) aided in the clean sheet.
PREVIOUS FIXTURES
In 2014, Brown beat Bryant, 3-1, and gained a 2-2 draw with Columbia. The Bears hold a 6-0-1 edge all-time against the Bulldogs and a 13-8-7 edge in the all-time series with the Lions.
IVY ACCOLADES
Freshman goalkeeper Christine Etzel (Madison, Conn.) earned Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week honors after making 15 saves last week. She tied a career-high with eight stops in Brown's 3-2 overtime win over Sacred Heart and tallied seven saves in the team's 0-0 draw with Dartmouth.
For the season, Etzel has registered a 0.96 goals-against average, a .860 save percentage, and 43 total saves. She ranks second in the conference in total saves and third in save percentage.
ON THE ATTACK
Senior Erin Katz (Montgomery, Ala.) leads Brown with seven points for the year on a team-high three goals and one assist. Classmate Jillian DeSimone (Lincoln, R.I.) has found success on the wing, notching a goal and two assists while junior Carly Gould (Hampton Falls, N.H.) paces the Bears with 26 shots and 10 shots on goal to go with a goal and an assist.
Three other Bears – sophomore Mikela Waldman (San Francisco, Calif.) and freshmen Amanda Lane (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) and Celia Story (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) – have each posted one goal and one assist on the year.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Bryant enters Wednesday's match with a 1-8 overall record, holding a 3-1 win over Fairfield. Four different Bulldogs have scored one goal on the year while Rachel Brightman has seen the majority of time in goal, recording a 2.47 GAA.
Columbia carries a 4-5 overall mark and an 0-1 Ivy record into the weekend as the Lions fell to Cornell, 1-0, in their Ivy opener on Sept. 25. Emma Anderson and Rachel Alexander have each scored three goals for Columbia while Allison Spencer has started seven games in goal, tallying a 1.08 GAA.

After playing at Columbia on Saturday, the Bears host Princeton (Sat., Oct. 10, 3:30 p.m.) and Marist (Mon., Oct. 12, 2 p.m.) over Columbus Day weekend.
