CLEMSON, S.C. – Rookie Jack Hagstrom (Middleton, Wis.) scored his third goal of the season, but the Brown men's soccer team fell at No. 14 Clemson, 3-1, in Sunday afternoon's non-conference matchup at Riggs Field.

Brown moves to 3-2 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 5-1-1 overall following the first game between the two teams since the 2004 season.

Clemson drew first blood at 22:56 when Aaron Jones sent a cross into the box, where Kyle Murphy headed in his first goal of the season to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

T.J. Casner then converted a penalty kick in the 35th minute for the two-goal lead at intermission. Clemson held a 5-3 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes.

Hagstrom put the Bears on the scoreboard just over five minutes into the second half with his third goal of the season and second in as many games. Senior Jack Gorab (Newport Beach, Calif.) launched a free kick into the box, where Hagstrom sent a header past the reach of keeper Andrew Tarbell to trim the deficit to one, 2-1.

Clemson outshot the Bears, 11-3, in the second half, but the visitors maintained a one-goal deficit before the 86th minute, when Diego Campos scored on a free kick 22 yards out to secure the victory.

Tarbell made three saves to pick up the win for the Tigers. Junior keeper Erik Hanson (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) corralled four saves for the Bears.
