Sunday Order of Racing | Results (Brown Brackets)
HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England – Brown University women's crew advanced its top entries in the senior coxed fours and elite eights events to the semifinals on the second day of racing at the Henley Women's Regatta 2015 on Saturday at The River Thames.
In its quarterfinal race, Brown's A entry in the elite eights defeated Sports Imperial by two lengths, crossing the finish in a time of 4:48. Debuting a changed lineup from the spring season, the Bears posted the top time of the day.
The Bears' B elite eight entry fell to Stanford by 1.75 lengths as the Cardinal clocked in at 4:48. Racing with a new lineup, including members of Brown's second varsity eight, A varsity four, and B varsity four from the NCAA season, the Bears tested a Stanford first varsity eight that remained largely intact from its grand final appearance at last month's NCAA Championships.
In the senior coxed fours, the Bears' A boat earned a victory by a verdict of 1.25 lengths in the first round over Lea/Vesta with a time of 5:28. In the quarterfinals, Brown topped the University of Tulsa's A boat by 3.25 lengths, finishing with a time of 5:32. Brown's B boat dropped a first round decision of 2.5 lengths to Exeter University, which came in with a time of 5:29 and eventually reached the finals of the event.
Brown will continue racing tomorrow with four boats competing in semifinals. The senior coxed four will compete at 10:44 a.m. while the elite eight will take to the water at 11:48 a.m. Brown's elite coxless four (9:56 a.m.) and elite quad scull (11:52 a.m.) will also join the crews in action. All four will have the chance to proceed to the finals in the afternoon.
