2015-16 Brown Women's Ice Hockey Schedule
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University women's ice hockey will play seven non-conference games, 10 Ivy League games, and 22 ECAC games as part of its 2015-16 schedule, head coach Bob Kenneally '90 announced on Monday.
The Bears will skate against four of last year's eight NCAA Championship teams including NCAA runner-up Harvard, Clarkson, Quinnipiac, and RIT. The team will also contest the 21st Annual Mayor's Cup against crosstown rival Providence College.
After a pair of exhibition contests vs. Princeton (Oct. 17) and the Toronto Junior Aeros (Oct. 18), the Bears will open the season at Maine with a pair of games on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. in Auburn, Maine, and Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. in Orono, Maine. Last year, Brown swept the Black Bears in a two-game series at home.
Brown will host its first game of the year in Meehan Auditorium on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. when the club welcomes Quinnipiac. The team then plays Princeton on Oct. 31 in its first Ivy League game of the season.
Continuing a five-game home stand, the Bears entertain Dartmouth on Nov. 6 and reigning ECAC tournament champion Harvard on Nov. 7. The stretch concludes with a home date against Division I independent Sacred Heart on Nov. 14. The Bears then travel to defending College Hockey America champion RIT for a twin bill on Nov. 20 and Nov. 21.
The 21st Annual Mayor's Cup will take place on Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. at Providence College, as Brown will look to take home the cup for the fourth time in the last five years. Bruno gained the cup with a 2-1 win at Meehan Auditorium last season.
In its final games before the winter break, the squad will play at Union on Dec. 4 and at RPI on Dec. 5 in its first road ECAC contests of the season.
In the New Year, Brown will play 16 of its 17 games against ECAC opponents beginning with road match-ups at Princeton (Jan. 1) and Quinnipiac (Jan. 2). The Bears then host St. Lawrence (Jan. 8) and ECAC regular season co-champion Clarkson (Jan. 9) before heading to Colgate (Jan. 15) and ECAC tournament runner-up Cornell (Jan. 16).
The club's final non-conference game of the season comes at first-year program Merrimack on Jan. 19. The Bears then return to ECAC play with home contests vs. RPI (Jan. 22) and Union (Jan. 23).
Brown plays at Yale on Jan. 29 and then hosts the Bulldogs on Jan. 30 before opening the month of February at Harvard (Feb. 5) and Dartmouth (Feb. 6). The Bears host Cornell (Feb. 12) and Colgate (Feb. 13) the next weekend prior to concluding the regular season at Clarkson (Feb. 19) and St. Lawrence (Feb. 20).
