PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University equestrian juniors Noel Park and Alexa Van Hattum have earned Athletic All-Ivy Show honors, and 14 Bears have gained Academic All-Ivy Show accolades, the teams that compete in the Ivy Show announced this week.
A native of Baton Rouge, La., Park began riding in September and acts as a Walk-Trot rider for Brown. She competed as Brown's primary point rider in the division and enjoyed consistent success this past season. A role model for the team's younger performers, Park committed to extra practice and strength and conditioning sessions throughout the year. She will look to anchor the team's Walk-Trot division in 2015-16.
Van Hattum, a resident of Grand Rapids, Mich., has grown immensely as a rider over the past season while juggling the demands of a double concentration in computer science and physics. A teaching assistant in one of Brown's most demanding computer science courses, she has remained true to her commitment to equestrian and pointed up to the Novice division. She stood as one of five Bears to qualify for Zone 1 Region 1 Regionals this past spring.
In addition to the team's athletic plaudits, 14 Brown riders garnered Academic All-Ivy Show honors, presented to student-athletes who have maintained at least a 3.5 grade point average and have competed in at least three regular season IHSA shows on the year.
Brown will resume competition in October 2015.
