PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Looking to bounce back after a pair of setbacks last week, the Brown women's lacrosse team will take aim at #19/18 Albany on Wednesday at John Fallon Field.
Senior co-captain Abby Bunting (Wellesley, Mass.) recorded her first hat trick of the season, but the Brown women's lacrosse team's comeback bid fell short against Harvard on Saturday, 9-7.
The Bears drop to 0-4 in Ivy League play and 5-5 overall, while the Crimson improves to 5-4 (3-1 Ivy).
Bunting's hat trick and Lauren Toy's (Kentfield, Calif.) pair of goals paced the Brown offense. Janie Gion (Northfield, Ill.) and Dianne Vitkus (Skaneateles, N.Y.) also found the back of the net for the Bears on Saturday.
BUNTING GETS FIRST HATTY IN OVER TWO YEARS
Abby Bunting's three goals against Harvard on Saturday marked the senior's first hat trick since March 30, 2013 against Dartmouth.
MAKING HUR MARK
Freshman Yuna Hur tallied a career high four goals against San Diego State on Tuesday. Demonstrating a quick stick, all four of Hur's goals were assisted from point-blank range.
DAHLE POSTS CAREER HIGH THREE POINTS
Another rookie shined on Tuesday against San Diego State, this time it was Emma Dahle who posted two goals and an assist for a career best three-point effort. Dahle also assisted on Bunting's goal that trimmed the Harvard lead to 7-6 on Saturday. She ranks sixth on the team with nine points (6g, 3a).
TOY STORY
Junior Lauren Toy paces the Brown offense with 27 points on 21 goals and six assists over 10 games. Toy has netted hat tricks in five games this season, including a career high four-goal outburst at Colgate on March 24. She also posted three goals and an assist against San Diego State on Tuesday and added a pair against Harvard on Saturday.
ROWDY RODDY
Goaltender Kellie Roddy ranks 21st nationally with a .472 save percentage and ranks second in the Ivy League with 7.70 saves per game.
Junior Sarah Nesi notched her third career multi-point outing with a goal and an assist at Colgate on March 24.
SERIES HISTORY – ALBANY
Brown and Albany will matchup for just the second time overall and first time at John Fallon Field. The Bears claimed the only meeting between the schools, a 13-12 decision over the Great Danes on March 7, 2009.
SCOUTING THE GREAT DANES
The Bears will be faced with the task of slowing down one of the more prolific offenses in the country, as Albany enters Wednesday's contest sixth in the nation with 14.91 goals per game. Their average margin of victory of nearly 10 goals (9.55) ranks first overall in the country, while their defense surrenders just 5.36 goals per game.
Brown will look to slow down Maureen Keggins, who is fifth in the nation in averaging 5.00 points per game and first with 3.18 assists per game. Her 55 total points are good for seventh nationally, while teammate Dakotah Savitcheff has posted 41 goals this season. In goal, Courtney Henderson's 5.41 goals against average is good for third overall in the nation.
