
No. 4 Women's Crew Sweeps No. 20 Cornell, Retains Dunn Bowl

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – No. 4 Brown University women's crew won all five races against No. 20 Cornell and retained the Dunn Bowl in a ranked match-up on the Seekonk River on Saturday afternoon in the Bears' home finale.
Brown's first varsity eight won with a time of 6:10.08, edging Cornell (6:13.35) by just over three seconds. The second varsity eight took its race with a 21-second margin, 6:22.22 to 6:43.77.
In the "A" varsity four, the Bears topped the Big Red with a time of 7:20.84 compared to 6:43.77 while the "B" varsity four captured its race, clocking in at 7:37.30 ahead of Cornell's 7:55.17.
In the opening race of the day, Brown came in first in the third varsity eight behind a time of 7:00.56 just before Cornell crossed the finish in 7:04.89.
The varsity eight race, the last race of the day, occurred at a slack tide while all other races were contested against an incoming tide. A cross tailwind blew at 10-15 miles per hour.
Brown claimed the Dunn Bowl, which began as a trophy in 1993, for the 23rd straight year.
Next, Brown heads to Derby, Conn., to compete at No. 10 Yale on Monday at 10:40 a.m. in the Bears' final race before the Ivy Championships on May 17.
