Freshman Lindsey Repp (Scarsdale, N.Y.) recorded a career high three points, including what proved to be the game-winning goal with 13:39 to play, as the Brown women's lacrosse team edged Columbia, 7-6, on Saturday at Stevenson Field.
The Bears improve to 18-0 all-time against the Lions, also securing their first Ivy win of the season (6-6, 1-4 Ivy), while Columbia drops to 4-8, 1-4 Ivy.
Senior Janie Gion (Northfield, Ill.) celebrated Senior Day in style with two goals and two assists to move into sole possession of second place on the team with 22 points.
GION CHIPS IN WITH FOUR POINTS
Janie Gion paced the Brown attack last Saturday with a four-point effort, netting two goals and assisting on Lindsey Repp's game-winning strike with 13:39 to play. Gion ranks second on the team with 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points.
SIX SENIORS HONORED LAST SATURDAY
The Bears recognized seniors Abby Bunting, Julia Carrellas, Alyssa DiBona, Janie Gion, Meghan O'Brien, and Kellie Roddy prior to Saturday's game for Senior Day.
DOMINANCE OVER THE LIONS
The Bears improved to 18-0 all-time against Columbia after their 7-6 win on Saturday.
LANGMUIR EARNS FIRST COLLEGIATE POINTS
Brown rookie and Providence native Hannah Langmuir notched two assists at Albany on Wednesday in just her second appearance of the season for the Bears.
BUNTING GETS FIRST HATTY IN OVER TWO YEARS
Abby Bunting's three goals against Harvard on April 4 marked the senior's first hat trick since March 30, 2013 against Dartmouth. Bunting also chipped in with a goal and a team high three shots at Albany on Wednesday.
DAHLE POSTS CAREER HIGH THREE POINTS
Another rookie shined on March 31 against San Diego State, this time it was Emma Dahle who posted two goals and an assist for a career best three-point effort. Dahle also chipped in with a goal and assist at Albany on Wednesday and a goal against Columbia to extend her point streak to five. She ranks sixth on the team with 12 points (8g, 4a).
TOY STORY
Junior Lauren Toy paces the Brown offense with 31 points on 23 goals and eight assists over 12 games. Toy has netted hat tricks in five games this season, including a career high four-goal outburst at Colgate on March 24. She also posted three goals and an assist against San Diego State on March 31 and added a pair against Harvard on April 4. Toy extended her point streak to six with a goal and an assist against Columbia on Saturday.
ROWDY RODDY
Goaltender Kellie Roddy ranks 24th nationally with a .464 save percentage and ranks second in the Ivy League with 7.58 saves per game.
Tuesday marks the first meeting between the two schools.
SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
In their inaugural season, the largely freshman comprised roster of the Riverhawks have yet to secure a win in 2015. In its last outing on Saturday, UMass-Lowell suffered a 19-2 setback to UMBC and looks to finally break into the win column on Tuesday. Jesse Jay, Taylor Sokol, Emily Wright, and Devon McKercher all have posted double figures in scoring for the Riverhawks in 2015.
