Abby Bunting (Wellesley, Mass.) recorded a career high three assists and four players each tallied a pair of goals as the Brown women's lacrosse team scored a 13-5 win over Central Connecticut State on Sunday at Arute Field.
Janie Gion (Northfield, Ill.), Lindsey Repp (Scarsdale, N.Y.), Emma Dahle (Wynnewood, Pa.), and Lauren Toy (Kentfield, Calif.) each found the back of the net twice for the Bears.
Netminder Kellie Roddy (Poway, Calif.) improves to a perfect 3-0 after stopping 10 Blue Devils shots, while CCSU's Morgan Tullar made 11 saves in the loss to fall to 1-3.
TOY, GION, AND HUR PACE THE BEARS
Lauren Toy (8g, 3a), Janie Gion (6g, 3a), and Yuna Hur (6g, 1a) highlight the Bears attack through three games in 2015.
RODDY CLAIMS CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
Senior goalkeeper Kellie Roddy earned her second career Defensive Player of the Week honors after posting five saves against Iona and 10 stops against Central Connecticut State. Roddy ranks second in the Ivy League in both goals-against average (6.18) and save percentage (.550).
A young Bears defense has had a strong start in 2015, allowing a league best 6.33 goals per game, which also ranks 13th nationally. The Bears have doubled up their opponents, 38-19, on the scoreboard this season.
REPP POTS FIRST TWO COLLEGIATE GOALS
Freshman midfielder Lindsey Repp tallied her first two career goals at Central Connecticut State last Sunday. A promising scoring threat, Repp amassed 237 career goals over four years at Scarsdale (N.Y.) High School.
SERIES HISTORY – PENN
Penn holds a 25-9 all-time record against the Bears, including a 12-6 decision at Franklin Field last season. Brown will look to snap an 11-game losing streak to the Quakers dating back to 2003.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Penn improved to 3-0 this season after a resounding 17-7 win over Rutgers on Wednesday. The 13th-ranked Quakers are led by Tory Bensen, who has netted 13 goals in three games, and Nina Corcoran's league leading 3.33 assists per game average. The Quakers are stout on the draw, collecting a league-best 15.33 draw controls per game.
