PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – Senior captain Meg Hassan and freshman Pearl Gore each performed well representing Brown University equestrian at the Roger Williams University Show on Saturday at Glen Farm.
Hassan (Exeter, N.H.) placed sixth in a tightly contested novice flat class while she also took part in novice fences.
In just her second collegiate show, Gore (Cameron, Ariz.) finished in second place in her walk-trot class.
The Bears fielded just two riders at the show as Roger Williams rescheduled the event from its originally planned March 7 date, and many of Brown's riders had already made plans for the school's spring break.
Brown has qualified at least five riders for postseason competition including sophomore Kabisa Baughen (Sarasota, Fla.) in intermediate flat, junior captain Elena Buchsbaum (Madison, N.J.) in novice flat, junior captain Alisa Berg (St. Louis, Mo.) in novice fences, junior Alexa Van Hattum (Grand Rapids, Mich.) in walk-trot-canter, and senior Leah Loerinc (North Dartmouth, Mass.) in walk-trot.
Next, Brown begins its postseason at Zone 1 Regionals on March 28 at Claddagh Farm in Tiverton, R.I.
