Brown Third At Kurtz Cup

Providence, R.I. - Brown placed third at Women's National Team Championship Kurtz Cup held at Harvard this weekend. The Bears defeated Williams, 6-3, lost to Stanford, 6-3, and earned a 7-2 win over Williams in the third place game.

Brown was strong at the top of the lineup against Williams with freshman Quincy Beck winning, 3-0, at number one; junior Emily Richmond taking a 3-1 decision at number two; sophomore Hannah Hay-Smith earning a 3-2 victory at number three; and senior Mina Shakarshy coming away with a 3-1 win at number four.

Also winning matches against Williams were senior Katherine Elliott-Moskwa, 3-0 at six; junior Skylar Murphy, 3-2 at seven; and junior Isabel Pitaro, 3-1 at eight.

Overall, Elliott-Moskwa and Murphy were the lone two Brown players to earn decisions over Stanford, Franklin & Marshall and Williams.
