PRINCETON, N.J. – Brown University women's soccer junior Carly Gould, senior Charlotte Beach, senior Erin Katz, and freshman Christine Etzel have earned All-Ivy honors via a vote of the Ivy League's eight head coaches, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Gould (Hampton Falls, N.H.) and Beach (New Haven, Conn.) garnered First Team and Second Team accolades respectively after both gained Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors a year ago. Katz (Montgomery, Ala.) and Etzel (Madison, Conn.) each captured Honorable Mention laurels. The Bears have now tallied four or more All-Ivy performers in each of the last five years.
In 2015, Gould led the Bears in goals (seven), points (16), shots (42), and shots on goal (19) while adding two assists. She ranked in a tie for fifth in the league in both goals and points. She posted six goals in the Bears' last five games, including a career-high three goals against Marist on Oct. 12 and the game winner vs. Penn on Oct. 31 in the team's home finale.
Beach controlled play in the midfield for the Bears throughout the season starting every game on the year for the second straight season. She concluded her career with 67 games played and 56 games started and posted a career-best 29 shots this past fall.
Katz enjoyed a breakout campaign as a senior, ranking second on the team with 10 points and four goals alongside two assists. She netted all three of Brown's goals in the Bears' 3-2 overtime win against Sacred Heart on Sept. 23 and posted the game-winning goal in the club's season finale at Yale on Nov. 7.
Etzel stepped into the Bears' goalkeeper position as a first-year player, starting 15 of the team's 16 games. She ranked second in the Ivy League in both total saves (75) and save percentage (.833) while tallying a 0.99 GAA, a 7-6-2 record, and four shutouts. She won the conference's Rookie of the Week award on three occasions during the season.
The quartet helped the Bears finish the year with a three-game Ivy winning streak in the final season in the career of 39-year head coach Phil Pincince.
